83rd Annual Academy Awards: Jimmy Choo Rocks the Red Carpet!

I personally didn't find the Awards show last night that energetic or entertaining, but I always enjoy the fashion aspect of the red carpet. The angles, colors, fabric selections and more can flatter a woman and even make her look effortlessly gorgeous.

This year, I wasn't at all surprised that Jimmy Choo rocked the red carpet once again.  Below are the celebrities who graced the carpet looking beautifully, from head to toe:

From the top (left to right):

Natalie Portman: Wore Jimmy's MACY shoe in plum silk satin

Gwyneth Paltrow: Wore COSMA in metallic gold from the Spring/Summer 11 collection.

Cameron Diaz: Wore GLINT in black patent leather from the CHOO 24:7 collection.

Kate Beckinsale: Wore LANA in black from the Cruise 11 collection and MARIAH in black silk satin.

Taylor Swift: Wore CANDY in gold glitter from the Spring/Summer 11 collection and CROWN in bronze glitter from the CHOO 24:7 collection.

Mark Whalberg: Wore DERBY in black patent leather from the upcoming Men’s Autumn/Winter 11 collection.

A special thanks to Jimmy Choo's Facebook page for posting these fabulous, red-carpet shoes!

Additional Jimmy Choo shoes found at this year's awards:

Penelope Cruz wore CROWN in red suede from the CHOO 24:7 collection.

Sandra Bullock wore VITA in champagne glitter from the CHOO 24:7 collection.

So which were your favorites?

Oops! It's Valentine's Day? 5 Tips to Keep You Out the Dog House

This post is for our procrastinator friends out there who seem to find these special holidays come around all too quickly.  Stuck in a rut? Not sure what to get your sweetie ... on the day of? Well here's our quick, short list that might keep you out off that couch for the night. Ha!

1.  Forget flowers and a card.  For one, flowers in particular are insanely expensive and you'll just look cheesy if you do it today.  Instead, step into a vintage shop or even run to Bed, Bath & Beyond and find him/her something useful, pretty or relaxing. Seriously! Vintage shops have tons of cool and different items that could easily add some functionality or intrigue to any space.  BB&B will definitely carry something there that your sweetie could use or at least would find thoughtful.  Massage oils, candles and a new throw could do the trick! ;)

2.  Pick up dinner and hit Blockbusters.  I don't blame you for not wanting to attempt to get reservations for a restaurant today. If your sweetheart doesn't like all the clichés involving Valentine's Day, then this route could be your savior. Grab some savory dinner (KFC's grilled chicken dinner? Morton's To go?).  Then rent a movie (something you both will like...or at least something you'll put up with!) and set up your living or bed room for a romantic dinner and movie night right at home.

3.  Have little ones? Get 'em involved!  Whip out that Crayola and sticker collection and have the little ones get started on making a special Valentine's Day card, too! It's fun and a cute, creative approach to show that special Mommy or Daddy that you all care.  But don't leave the little ones with all the work! Get started on a short, sweet poem to stick inside - in between their art work.  If you have a spare frame, keep it handy and be sure to suggest to your sweetie that you frame it after they see it so that it's especially showcased.

4.  Hit the jewelry store.  When all else fails, you better hit that jewelry store!  Whether it be a new charm for her bracelet, new cuff links, a new ring to add to his/her collection or a pair of fabulous chocolate diamond earrings, it's sure to please! There may even be a sweet little discount considering the day, so get on it soon!

And last, but certainly not least...

5.  Consider a wine and chocolate pairing at home!  Wine + chocolate, I don't know too many who can't appreciate the two.  There are some great pairings available - here are some of our favorites:
  • White chocolate + Korbel champagne. The sweetness in both balance out wonderfully here
  • Milk chocolate + a tawny Port (especially if the chocolate has a nutty flavor to it!)
  • Dark chocolate + a ruby Port or a nice Zinfandel for that touch of sweetness lacking in dark chocolate
  • Bittersweet chocolate + a Syrah or Cabernet Savignon will work nicely and compliment each other.

So what, if anything, are you planning for today?
Regardless, from our hearts to yours, have a beautiful Valentine's Day!

5 Ways for Grooms to Keep Calm, Cool and Collected Before Saying "I Do!"

Let's be real here: grooms get nervous, too!  I know I was on our wedding day, but I actually incorporated almost all of my own tips here and can safely say they helped.  Had I incorporated all 5, I might not have been caught on our video saying "O God...O God..." as my bride-to-be at the time was walking down the aisle. Ha!

OK, so here's my short list countdown to a totally chill wedding for grooms:

5.  Plan to be romantic - in advance. Show your significant other that you care and want to help out. If you're staying in a bridal suite at a hotel after your wedding, stop there first thing and drop off your bags, etc. I'd suggest planning something with your hotel representative/concierge for your bridal suite. Suggest rose petals laid on the bed or a bottle of champagne for when you arrive. Or plan a romantic in-room breakfast for the morning! Get it all out of the way so that you and your wife don't worry about a thing after the wedding.

4.  Get Your AM Massage On!  What better way to finish up the morning than a sweet, Swedish or Aromatherapy massage? After my wife put me onto massage therapy, I can't get enough of them. They help to relieve stress and tension in the body, leaving you feeling heavenly for the rest of the day.

3.  Enjoy a light bite to eat with the fellas.  You're feeling refreshed and ready to meet up with the guys.  Enjoy something simple or small and enjoy some laughs with your circle so everyone's relaxed and ready to have some fun. Chances are you've got a whole feast lined up for you later at the reception and you'll be too busy to eat because you're schmoozing with guests and smiling for the cameras.

2.  Follow up with a cigar, cognac or shot.  Granted, not everyone enjoys a smoke or a drink, but if you do...I strongly recommend this.  My Best Man and I did this after lunch and it just made us even more relaxed as we reminisced. It really does calm your nerves a bit. Too bad it doesn't shut you up from saying "O God...O God..."

1.  Leave it to the planner/coordinator.  Considering one? Don't think you need one? Think twice. Let me make this simple: It will keep you (and more importantly your significant other) calmer and happier. I received a really awesome complement from a recent groom of ours: he couldn't thank me enough for actually being there for him. I helped him with everything from tying his tie, pinning boutonnieres and planning a sweet surprise for his bride that night. So yes, I'm biased. I totally think planners/coordinators are worth their weight in gold.

What, if any, would you incorporate for your wedding? Did you do anything outrageous or not-so ordinary?

Justin
